Yancy Shirley

Professor, Department of Astronomy
Associate Astronomer, Steward Observatory

Studies low and high-mass start formation, the interstellar medium, and chemical evolution within both our galaxy and nearby galaxies.  He does this through combining observations with radiative transfer modeling.

Additionally, he specializes in radio and infrared imaging and spectroscopy utilizing single-dish radio telescopes, interferometers, and space-based observatories.

Research Interests
Astrobiology, star and planet formation, interstellar medium, astrochemistry
