Research focuses on metals serving as vital nutrients to all biological systems and investigating how bacteria maintain homeostatis within the metal milieu.  Additionally, understanding how bacteria interact with metals during infections to identify novel therapeutic strategies against bacterial infections. Supportive of undergraduate research, runs NSURP.

Immunobiology, bacteria, infection, pneumococcus, influenza, copper toxicity, infection protection, infection control
