Science Communication: Communicating Astrobiology to Broad and Diverse Audiences

Join us for an interactive workshop that explores the challenges and opportunities of communicating the search for life beyond Earth. Participants will address scientific misinformation, examine controversial life-detection claims and future discovery scenarios, and discuss public perceptions of extraterrestrial life and how best to share astrobiology with broad audiences. Faculty, scientists, and students are welcome! Refreshments will be provided during the break.

Dr. Chris Impey is a University Distinguished Professor of Astronomy at the University and an award-winning teacher, he has written textbooks, a novel and several popular science books on cosmology and astrobiology, including Beyond: Our Future in Space. He received the 2026 Lewis Thomas Prize for Writing about Science from The Rockefeller University.
