Join us at Sonett Space Sciences on 3/25 at 5 PM for a discussion of movie clips from the Martian. We'll learn about the science (or lack of science!) in The Martian, based on the popular book by Andy Weir. We will be watching clips from the movie, accompanied by expert commentary from scientists. We'll conclude with a short discussion of the astrobiology themes in Weir's newest movie/book, Project Hail Mary.
Come hang out with Chase Cooper, an Astronomy major with minors in Astrobiology and Mathematics who studies how planets like Earth and Titan appear from space; Nathan Hadland, a planetary scientist and Research Programs Coordinator at the AABC, exploring how microbial life survives in extreme environments on Earth and what that could mean for life on Mars;
and Kai Staats, Director of SAM, a sealed and pressurized Mars habitat research center located at UA Biosphere 2 with focus on bioregeneration, plant-based life support for living on the Moon and Mars.
